The LNAT is structured to evaluate essential skills crucial for success in the legal profession, including verbal reasoning, information analysis, conclusion drawing, and information interpretation.

The LNAT does not explicitly test for legal knowledge in order to ensure fairness and equal playing field in the admissions process. Universities consider LNAT scores alongside academic performance and personal statements to make well-rounded admissions decisions.

LNAT Assessment Structure

The test comprises two sections - a multiple-choice section based on passages of text and an essay section.

Section A

Multiple Choice Questions
95 minutes

The core focus of Section A is to test reading comprehension, argument analysis, and critical thinking.

42 multiple choice questions
4 multiple choice answer options per question

One Essay 

40 minutes

The essay section evaluates your writing skills, ability to construct coherent arguments, and critical thinking.

​​​Miss Cook is an LNAT specialist and Oxford Law consultant with a first-class law degree from Oxford University. She ranked top of her year in Land Law, winning the Falcon Chambers Prize for Land Law, and second across all private law subjects, winning the Gibbs Prize Proxime. Prior to university, Katie achieved a perfect score of 45 in the IB Diploma.

 

With nine years of tutoring experience, Katie has guided over fifty students through the LNAT and broader law admissions process. She employs a skills-based approach, emphasising critical reasoning and the ability to construct and deconstruct arguments – key to excelling in the LNAT. Her students have achieved outstanding results, including Section A scores as high as 34, and secured offers from prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Durham, Bristol, and SOAS.

Eugene holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with First Class Honours (double first). He was awarded the Jennings Prize for outstanding academic performance in Parts IB and II, as well as the Rebecca Flower Squire Scholarship.

 

His time at Cambridge has equipped him with a profound understanding of the intellectual demands required for success at Oxbridge. In addition, Eugene has also served as an admissions mentor for various consultancies, including the UK Law School Admissions Group and various educational advisory start-ups. In these roles, he regularly conducted workshops, interview sessions, and provided personalised guidance throughout UK university admissions process. His work has also been published in Per Incuriam, the Cambridge University Law Society's official termly magazine which features content by students as well as notable academics and professionals.

​

Beyond admissions guidance, Eugene also brings a wealth of career insights from his legal journey, having received multiple vacation scheme and training contract offers from leading international law firms. His experiences will enable him to assist students not only with their academic applications but also with their future career paths. Eugene’s leadership as President of the Sir David Williams Law Society, where he collaborated with the Cambridge Alumni and Development teams, has prepared him well to support students in their journey to Oxbridge and beyond.

Jonathan S. BA (Law) (Cantab) BCL (Oxon)

LNAT Instructor and Cambridge/Oxford Law Consultant

Jonathan has a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with First Class Honours, and a Master of Laws (BCL) with Distinction from the University of Oxford. He will soon commence practice as a
commercial barrister in London.

 
Over the past 4–5 years, Jonathan has worked extensively as an LNAT and Oxbridge tutor. He previously led the Oxbridge admissions programme at his former sixth form, where he supported more than 140 students applying to top UK universities. The programme provided tailored guidance across all stages of the application process, including personal statement coaching, admissions test preparation, and interview practice. In addition to this, Jonathan taught LNAT classes through the school — a role he continues to pursue privately. To date, he has provided one-to-one LNAT tuition to over 30 students, with 80% of those he supported in the past year going on to receive offers from Oxford or Cambridge.


Beyond his tutoring experience, Jonathan has been deeply engaged in legal advocacy and academic research. He has participated in ten mooting competitions, including three international moots representing Cambridge University, where a judge awarded him an exceptional score of 99/100 for his performance. He has also contributed to seven research projects under the supervision of four professors at Oxford and Cambridge, focusing primarily on commercial law. In addition, he has authored five of his own academic articles and is currently working on two further pieces, both expected to be published in 2026.

John earned a degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) from King’s College, University of Cambridge in 2005. He is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in product leadership across several prominent technology startups and scaleups. In addition, he has a strong background in startup corporate financing, IP advising and strategic partnerships, applying his expertise in 10X corporate strategy.

 

Currently, he serves as the Partnerships Director for Oxbridge Gateway, collaborating with high schools and academic institutions. Beyond his professional career, John mentors individuals on university applications and early-career development within his network, contributing to numerous successful admissions to top-tier institutions.
