LNAT 2026 (for 2027 entry): Key Dates, Deadlines & Everything You Need to Know

The Law National Admissions Test (LNAT) is a crucial part of your application to many top UK law schools. Here's a clear, concise guide to the most important dates for the 2026 testing cycle (2027 university entry).

When Can You Register and Book?

  • Registration Opens: 1 August 2026 Create your LNAT account on the Pearson VUE system, link your UCAS Personal ID, and pay the fee.

  • Test Booking Opens: Same day (1 August 2026)

  • First Test Slots Available: 1 September 2026

Applicant Tip: Popular dates in September and October book up very quickly — especially for Oxford and Cambridge applicants. Book as early as possible!

Important Deadlines by University

Oxford & Cambridge Applicants

  • Register and book by: 15 September 2026

  • Must sit the LNAT by: 15 October 2026 (Late registration is not allowed for these universities.)

King’s College London, LSE & UCL Applicants

  • Must complete the test by: 31 December 2026

Durham & Bristol Applicants

  • Final deadline for registration, booking and sitting the test: 14 January 2027 (18:00 GMT)

All Other LNAT Universities

  • Registration and booking close: 20 January 2027 (18:00 GMT)

  • Final date to sit the test: 25 January 2027

Late Applicants (University-Dependent) Some universities may accept later results (mainly for international or very late applicants). In these cases, the absolute final dates are usually:

  • Booking deadline: 25 July 2027

  • Last possible test date: 31 July 2027

Testing Period

The LNAT runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2027. However, you must sit the test by the deadline specific to each university you’re applying to.

You are allowed only one attempt per admissions cycle. Only your first sitting counts.

Results Release

  • Universities receive your results automatically (usually within 24 hours of your test). You don’t need to send them via UCAS.

  • You (the candidate) can access your official results twice a year:

    • Tests taken on or before ~20–25 January 2027 → results in mid-February 2027

    • Tests taken later → results in mid-August 2027

Section A (multiple-choice) is scored out of 42. Section B (essay) is not given a numerical score — it is read and assessed directly by admissions tutors.

Quick Advice

  • Always check the official LNAT website (lnat.ac.uk) and your chosen universities for any last-minute updates.

  • Book early to secure your preferred test centre and date.

  • Plan your preparation so you’re ready well before your university’s deadline.
